On the hunt for some things to do around Tennessee for 2023 spring break? Or what about just a short drive to the Great Smoky Mountains?! Check out these 10 Things to do in Tennessee during Spring Break instead of hitting the crowded, overpriced beach clubs.
White Water Rafting
Tennessee is home to some of the most high class level 3 & 4 water rapid in the world. Located on the Pigeon River in Hartford, TN, River Rat Tubing offers multiple routes and it is only around 15 minutes from our GLAMP grounds! Enjoy a day of adventure on the river with kids as young as 3 on this adventure. Click here to learn how to book!
Tube on the Lazy River
Speaking of River Rat Tubing, they can take you on more than one type of adventure in the Smokies. Get your butt in the water with a cooler and some water shoes, then lay back and relax. If it is your first time to Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, they recommend taking the Outpost A route. It maneuvers small rapids and is kid/pet friendly! Click here to learn more about the Spring Break tubing experience here.
Too cold to go tubing outside?! Stay closer to Music City and take a ride on the lazy river at Gaylord Opryland Soundwaves. They are an upscale water attraction at the iconic Gaylord Resort and feature more than just the river. Ride the waves on their Crowd Surfer, the rapids river, and multiple high speed tubing options for our thrill seekers.
Swim in your Private Indoor Pool
People are cool and all but… sometimes you just wanna hang with your friends and not be bothered by Chad and Brad. If Spring Break is looking like just the core crew this year, make sure to book an Airbnb with all the fixings. Including a private indoor pool. A multitude of our homes in the Smoky Mountains have ’em! Check out the full list here to book!
Hike a Waterfall
Tennessee is one of the most beautiful states in the country and arguably its because of its options of things to do outside. After a long rainy/icy winter, the Volunteer state is overflowing with trails that offer views of massive waterfalls comparable to Costa Rica. Depending on where you wanna stay, here are a few of our favorites within an hour drive:
From Nashville: Fall Creek Falls, Greeter Falls, Foster Falls
In the Smokies: Grotto Falls, Rainbow Falls Mingo Falls
In between: Ozone Falls, Cummins Falls
Glamping Weekend
Glamping is the new trend taking over outdoors TikTok. And for good reason… its like camping but way more glamorous. Check off staying in a glamping dome from your bucket list this spring break with your family or group of friends. You’ll have a grill, hot tub, firepit, wifi lodge, stream access and private hiking trails just minutes from the entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park. Stay snuggled up being lazy or hit up the adventure in the area by booking spring break here.
Adventure Park
There are all sorts of other activities if its just a hair too cold to get in the water still outside. The Smokies have some of the best zip lining in the country and you can find them super close to our homes around the area. Our favorites are Foxfire Adventure Park, Anakeesta Walking bridges, and
In Nashville, you can find epic zip lining at The Adventure Park here and Treetop Adventure Park at Nashville Shores here. Nashville Shores also has an epic waterpark that opens in the spring once it warms up a bit. Which leads us to our next idea on our list of things to do in Tennessee during Spring Break…
Hit the Water Park
Who says you have to be a kid to hit the water park?! You can race your besties on the water slides in the Smokies at Wild Bear Falls at Westgate Resort or the Wild Water Dome at the Wilderness at the Smokies. And if your spring break is in mid May, you can be one of the first to visit the newest Soaky Mountain Waterpark!!! If you are having FOMO of the Miami Beach parties, you can rent a luxury cabana at a wave pool here for that beach club vibe lol.
Pick Flowers
Check out the tulip fields at Liberty Grace Farms in Columbia Tennessee for the Amsterdam or PNW vibes. You can pick your own or just peruse the farm’s epic collection of blooming bulbs. Admission is $7 and parking is free!
If you would rather check out fields and fields of botanical gardens filled with spring flowers for the perfect Instagram shots, Cheekwood in Bloom is Nashville’s most famous spring event in its gardens.
Attend an Event
There are loads of spring events all around Tennessee. A few that are close to our Nashville vacation homes we have our eyes on are the SEC basketball tournament, Disney Immersive Exhibit, Tin Pan South Music Fest, Irishfest, and East Nashville Beer Festival. There are also loads of concerts with huge names coming to town so if you wanna do the whole Broadway music experience, start you evening with Shania, Beyonce, or T.Swift!
Rent a Boat/Kayak
If you are in Nashville and wanna catch a ride on one of our multiple lakes just outside of downtown, rent a pontoon! A couple reputable companies are River Queen Voyages, Nashville Shores, and Nashville Toons. Still too cold to get in the water?! Then take the Toons “COZY CRUISE” featuring a warm gas firepit table, karaoke, and a stop at a lakeside pub. Sounds like the perfect spring boat day to me.
No matter how you are choosing to spend your spring break this year, we hope it is will all the ones you love the most, celebrating the changing of the seasons.
