Clingman’s Dome Lookout

This hike is a short 1.2 miles, but it’s definitely worth it for the views at the end. You’ll get to see the Smoky Mountains in all their glory from Clingman’s Dome Lookout – the highest point in Tennessee.

Chimney Tops

The Chimney Tops Trail is one of the most popular and challenging hikes in the Smoky Mountains. At just over four miles round-trip, it’s not a long hike, but it’s definitely steep and strenuous.

The trail takes you to the summit of Chimney Tops, a 1700-foot peak with stunning views of the Smoky Mountains National Park. It’s definitely worth the effort if you’re looking for a challenging hike!

Peregrine Peak via Alum Cave Bluff Trail

The Alum Cave Bluff Trail is a moderate, four-mile hike that takes you to the top of Peregrine Peak. The trailhead can be found at the Alum Cave parking lot, and it’s one of the most popular Smoky Mountains day hikes.

The trail climbs over 1160 feet as it winds its way up to the peak, but you’re rewarded with some amazing views along the way. At the summit, you’ll find Peregrine Peak, which offers stunning 360-degree views of the park.

This hike is best attempted in late spring or early fall when temperatures are cooler.
